Is it you, or the way that you breathe?

Have you ever noticed the way you compose yourself when you look in the mirror?

The way that you breathe while you look or try not to?

Who is it that you are looking or not looking at?

Is that you in the mirror?

Is the you that you think you are any more you than that reflection?
and what does breathing have to do with it?

B r e a t h e,

F e e l,

Experience you.

life, being You, can be that simple, and equally profound.

When you know who you are

[ not who you think you are, not who you have been,
not the one in the mirror
or the one hiding from the mirror even
not who we think you are or who you or I or anyone wants-expects you to be]

When you know who you are,
you will know what you are doing,
and what to do.

This is to know yourself. This is to be centred in you, connected to you. This gives us clarity, purpose and strength.

and freedom.

no longer bound by habits, beliefs, expectations and demands - be they internal or external / yours or theirs.

we might do the same thing, but from a very different place.

In our body, this looks like having our balance, moving with confidence and the grace that comes when we know what our body is capable of, at the very least knowing that our body IS quite capable of something and being wiling to trust it.

It might not look like much from the outside, but when our movement is aligned with our capacity we are 'on', and our likelihood of injuring our selves is very much reduced (perhaps even not very likely at all).

in our experience of self, it is knowing who we are.

So when we are asked to do something that doesn't gel with us, we know its a 'no' and can confidently and compassionately act from that place.

When its a yes, we feel our whole being on board, we find the capacity, we are excited by the opportunity, even if a little afraid.
The answers, the means, whatever it is we need may seem to simply arrive.
We live 'things falling into place".

It might not be every breath, but it will be an increasingly common experience.
We find ourselves in the territory of options, dexterity, agency, resilience and even ambiguity - if we want new things, they are going to be unfamiliar.

This brings me to a framework I was introduced to last week - not new in itself, but new in its organisation.

If we can only perceive one way to do something, we are operating under COMPULSION or REACTION.

We are being compelled by our subconscious patterns and drivers, ideas and beliefs we took on in our childhood and infancy about how the world works and who we are.

If we get to perceiving two ways to do something we are in the realms of what Moshe Feldenkrais called "Primitive Choice".

This or that. Duality. Win or lose, Sacrifice or Reward, Pleasure or Pain. True or False.

Life is actually richer than either of these two realms - and when we change our breath and shift our unconscious patterns, we open to a third realm of POTENTIAL.

In this stage, we can perceive three or more options, we have moved beyond duality and reactivity/compulsion. We are moving into RESPONSE - ABILITY, or what I sometimes refer to as actual Adulting.

This is the realm of your (and my) human FREEDOM.

If there is one thing that it is my passion to support you in, it's connecting with this innate sense of freedom.
This is what is behind my yoga classes and rebirthing breathwork.

This is why I do what I do - teach you to breathe and move in new ways - for you and your personal freedom.
When we change our breath we change our Response-Ability and open into Freedom of choice.

Freedom. You

Are you ready to get you closer to yours - freedom. no limits, you as You.

Join my next Intro workshop ( Sun June 6), or enquire about working with me one-on-one.

Life, and who you think yourself to be has everything to do with the way you are breathing, and change is available on every breath.

You can even start changing your breath right now to begin exploring the potential of you:

Step one: notice how you are breathing ( or not breathing!)
Step Two: change it! for a few breaths, and notice how you feel

let me know how you go!
